Kerry is moving to address the danger of creeping Dukakisization by shuffling his campaign staff yet again:

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry, under pressure to bring new focus to his campaign, added a veteran political strategist to his travelling campaign entourage, rounding out changes to his senior staff.

Democratic National Committee General Election Manager John Sasso will become the senior campaign staffer aboard the Kerry campaign plane, a key role in the final weeks leading up to the election.

Excellent!

Sasso's résumé includes a stint managing the failed 1988 presidential campaign of Michael Dukakis.

Bummer.

You just know that there had to be other positions for CNN to mention first on Sasso's résumé. Note to Kerry: when CNN is slyly reminding voters of your Dukakisness, you've got big troubles...(Update later: Well, actually, there isn't much else on Sasso's résumé. But still amusing that CNN didn't let it slide by...)

Update: Didn't Sasso not just run the Dukakis campaign, but get fired for dirty tricks? Susan Estrich, call your office!
